Itinerary

Old Cairo, or Coptic Cairo, which encompasses the Babylon Fortress, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, and many other Coptic churches and historical sites. According to Christian tradition, the Holy Family visited this area and stayed at the site of the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Serga). Coptic Cairo was a stronghold of Christianity in Egypt until the Islamic era, though most of the current church buildings in Coptic Cairo were built after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in the 7th century.
The tour will include the highlights of the area:
Hanging Church
Saint Sergius (Abu Serga), also known as the Holy Crypt Church
Ben Ezra Synagogue

Then move to the Cave Church, the local Coptic church in Mokattam Village, which was established in 1975. After the church was established, the Zabbaleen felt more secure in their location and only then began to use more permanent building materials, such as stone and bricks, for their homes. Given their previous experience of eviction from Giza in 1970, the Zabbaleen had lived in temporary tin huts up to that point. In 1976, a large fire broke out in Manshiyet Nasir, which led to the construction of the first church below Mokattam Mountain on a site of 1,000 square meters. More churches have since been built into caves found in Mokattam. Currently, there are seven cave churches hidden among the caves of Mokattam Mountain. The Monastery of St. Simon the Tanner is the largest, and it has an amphitheater with a seating capacity of 20,000. This church is the largest church in the Middle East.

After finishing, you will return to your start point.
