Itinerary

Early in the morning, our expert tour guide will pick you up from your start point. Start your tour by visiting the Catacombs, which were built between the 2nd and 4th centuries by the Romans and were discovered by accident in 1900 AD. It is one of the largest necropolises, consisting of a series of Alexandrian tombs, statues and archaeological objects of the Pharaonic funeral cult, with Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman influences.

After you finish, about 2 km from the Catacombs, you will reach Pompey’s Pillar. It is a Roman triumphal column and one of the largest of its type constructed outside the imperial capitals of Rome and Constantinople. It is located at the Serapeum of Alexandria. It is the only known free-standing column in Roman Egypt that was not composed of drums, and it is one of the largest ancient monoliths and monolithic columns ever erected.

Then drive to the shore of Alexandria, to the spot of the old lighthouse, one of the seven ancient wonders. It collapsed completely and was replaced by Qaitbay Castle, which was built in the 15th century. Enjoy walking around the outside.

After that, have lunch at a good-quality restaurant.

After lunch, drive to the center of the city to visit the Roman Amphitheater. It is one of the best-preserved amphitheaters and was built at the beginning of the 4th century AD. It was excavated by accident in 1960.

Finish your tour with a visit to the great Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the number one library in the world, which contains more than 8 million books.

Finally, return to the start point.
