Cairo Layover: Giza Pyramids, Grand Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili Bazaar

Start your tour at the Giza Pyramids. Visit the Great Pyramid, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, which was built by order of King Cheops. It is 146 meters high and 1,000 square meters in area, and it contains more than 2.4 million stones weighing seven million tons. Enjoy walking around, then drive to the panorama point to see all the pyramids in one line and take memorable pictures. On the way to the Great Sphinx, you can stop in front of the pyramid of Chefren, which is 139 meters high, and the pyramid of Menkaure, which is 66 meters high. After this, you will have a moment of majesty standing in front of the Great Sphinx, which has the body of a lion and the head of a man and lies behind the Valley Temple of the second pyramid.

Then drive to the Grand Egyptian Museum. 

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), also known as the Giza Museum, is a major archaeological museum located near the Pyramids of Giza.

It is anticipated to be the largest archaeological museum in the world, with around 100,000 artifacts on display. Right now it holds the most important treasure ever found in the world: the tomb of Tutankhamun, which was found in 1922 by Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings. The treasure collection includes more than 3,500 masterpieces of antiquities.  

After that, have your lunch at a good-quality local restaurant

Enjoy the felucca. A felucca is the experience of a unique Egyptian sailboat without a motor. Enjoy the quietness and relaxation in the middle of the River Nile.

Finish your day at Khan El Khalili Bazaar, which is a major souk in the historic center of Islamic Cairo. The bazaar district is one of Cairo’s main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike.  

After finishing, return to the airport.
