Itinerary

The day before, at about 6:30 PM, drive to the railway station to catch your sleeper train for the roughly 9-hour trip to Luxor (dinner and breakfast on board).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Start your tour at the Colossi of Memnon of Amenhotep III, which are located on the west side of the River Nile, across from the modern city of Luxor.

Then drive to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, which was built for Queen Hatshepsut. It is located beneath the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari on the west bank of the Nile, near the Valley of the Kings. This mortuary temple is dedicated to Amun and Hatshepsut and is situated next to the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II.

After you finish, you will have a date with history at the Valley of the Kings, a natural old valley on the west bank of Luxor. The ancient pharaohs began to use it to hide and bury their mummies in beautiful tombs for a period of nearly 500 years, from the 16th to the 11th century BC. Rock-cut tombs were excavated for pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. The valley stands on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Thebes, in the heart of the Theban Necropolis. It has 63 tombs and chambers.

The area around Karnak was the main place of worship of the Eighteenth Dynasty Theban Triad, with Amun at its head.

Then finish your tour with a visit to the beautiful Luxor Temple, which was constructed approximately 1400 BC. It was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship. At the rear of the temple are chapels built by Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty and Alexander.
